Nagykanizsa Central Cemetery (other names:Tripammer Street Cemetery, Nagykanizsa Public Cemetery) /Est. 1784/. The Nagykanizsa Bulgarian-Soviet Military Cemetery/other name Soviet Heroes' Cemetery is the graveyard of 300 Soviet and 36 Bulgarian soldiers who fell in Nagykanizsa and its surroundings. On the eastern cut of this plot/cemetery sector is the statue of the Russian soldier by Aladár Farkas (1959 local grade listed statue) About the statue: on the Freedom Square now Erzsébet Square installed the Soviet Heroes Monument later Liberation Monument. On October 25, 1956,-under Hungarian Revolution of 1956,-the monument was vandalized, its statue was smashed. It was rebuilt in 1959, in front of the wide pedestal a statue of Aladár Farkas was placed on a narrow poster, depicting a Soviet (Russian) soldier leaning his rifle against his leg. In 1991, the bronze statue was lifted from the monument and erected in the Soviet Heroes' Cemetery under the name Russian Soldier, 25 meters from the Soviet Cemetery Obelisk, which had been standing there since 1946. Nagykanizsai Központi temető (Tripammer utcai Temető, Nagykanizsai Köztemető) A kanizsai Szovjet hősi temető a Nagykanizsán és környékén elesett 300 szovjet és 36 bolgár katona sírkertje. Ennek a parcellának a keleti vágén található a Orosz katona szobra (Avatás 1991., Avatás 1959., Farkas Aladár). Nagykanizsán a Szabadság (ma Erzsébet) téren 1945 és 1992 között Szovjet hősi emlékmű, illetve későbbi nevén, Felszabadulási emlékmű állt. 1956. október 25-én az emlékművet megcsonkították, szobrát összetörték. 1959-ben újjáépítették, a széles talapzat elé egy keskeny posztamensre Farkas Aladár szobra került, mely egy puskáját a lábához támasztó szovjet (orosz) katonát ábrázol. 1991-ben a bronz szobrot leemelték az emlékműről, és a Szovjet hősi temetőben Orosz katona néven állították fel, 25 méterre a már 1946 óta ott álló Szovjet temetői obeliszktől. - Nagykanizsa Megyei Jogú Város 28/2017.
