Description
Português: O Solar do Major Novaes foi a residência do rico produtor e exportador de café Major Manoel de Freitas Novaes, responsável pelo desvio dos traçados das estradas de ferro D. Pedro II (atual Central do Brasil) e Minas and Rio, (atual Centro-Oeste), para passar em suas terras, fatos que causaram o surgimento do núcleo urbano que deu origem à cidade de Cruzeiro. O casarão colonial foi construído em 1815, em adobe, no pavimento inferior, e pau-a-pique, no superior, estruturado com pilares e vigas de madeira. Foi tombado pelo CONDEPHAAT em 1969, restaurado, e hoje abriga o Museu Histórico e Pedagógico Major Novaes.
