Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Acting as election judges, helping voters register or participating in a mock election, SPPS students are getting involved in this election season. At Johnson Senior High School, social studies students participated in National Voter Registration Day by helping the school's 18-year-olds register to vote. Other schools are partnering with the League of Women Voters, the University of Minnesota and other organizations to stress the importance of participating in our democracy. Faced with inadequate state funding, increasing educational costs and continued budget cuts, the Saint Paul Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution asking voters to consider a school funding increase on this year’s Nov. 6 ballot. For more information about registering to vote and the district's referendum visit: spps.org/referendum2018.
