Sachsens Kirchen-Galerie erschien von 1837 bis 1848 im Verlag Hermann Schmidt Dresden und brachte in zahlreichen Lieferungen nach und nach 15 Bände in regionaler Gliederung. In der Regel waren die jeweils amtierenden Pfarrer die Verfasser und beschrieben die Kirchorte. Sie schilderten die Kirchen, deren Baugeschichte, Baustil und Ausstattung wie Altar, Taufstein, Gemälde, Orgel, Glocken, berichteten über die Schulverhältnisse, über die Namen der Pfarrer, die in der jeweiligen Gemeinde nacheinander tätig waren, erwähnten die Inhaber der Rechte zur Besetzung der Pfarrerstelle. Die Beiträge sind nicht einheitlich gestaltet. Nicht selten ist eine regelrechte Ortsgeschichte zusammengestellt. Im Band 11 von 1844 – Voigtland – finden sich zahlreiche Abbildungen, die oft nicht nur den Kirchenbau, sondern auch dessen Umgebung, das Dorf oder die Landschaft zeigen. Zu den Verfassern gibt es diese Angaben: „Nach der Natur gezeichnet von W. Wegener“ und „Steindruck von I. H. Ketschau“ (Angaben teilweise abgekürzt). von links: frühere Pfarre von etwa 1670 (heutiges Bürsten- und Heimatmuseum) und die Martin-Luther-Kirche in Schönheide. |
