Summary

[edit]
Description

Altar of the Saint-Sauveur, known as "Saint Guilhem" (late 12th century): Several years of restoration work were necessary to remove the gypsum and calcite from the white marble inlaid with coloured glass plates, revealing a single-line engraving with Christ in majesty surrounded by a tetramorph and the Crucifixion scene. It was moved to the edge of the transept on the liturgical platform, in front of the Tridentine altar (to meet the requirements of the rite adopted at the time of the Second Vatican Council, a small modern altar was placed at the crossing of the transept).
