Title
samian ware
Description
English: A small body sherd of decorated Samian ware, weighing 18.8g. The decoration depicts a row of ovolo arches running around the uppermost part of the sherd and below this there is a row of pellets. Part of a drape is visible to the left. A small annular ring is also depicted (in the centre of the sherd). The largest design remaining on the sherd depicts a horse/sea creature within a double circle. Only half of the creature survives so it is difficult to see what the design represents. The sherd is quite abraded. The section of the vessel measures 6.8mm.
