Princess Anne visited New Zealand in 1979 as World President of the Save the Children Fund to take part in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the national branch of the Fund. The visit was from 13 to 19 July. In Wellington the Princess attended Save the Children diamond jubilee events, and also a riding display by children of the Riding for the Disabled Association (Princess Anne is President of the RDA). On 17 July the Princess visited Christchurch and attended a Save the Children South Island event. On the 18th Princess Anne travelled to Auckland and visited Papakura Military Camp in the morning. Those presented to her there included members of RNZ Nursing Corps of which the Princess was Colonel-in-Chief. Then, following a "walkabout" in Auckland's Queen Street, the Princess attended a children's concert in Auckland Town Hall. (The images show the royal visitor's route into the auditorium and also a letter of thanks to the organisers from the Save the Children Fund).
