Description
Deutsch: Peter Bircks & Cie, Seidenstoffweberei in Krefeld.
Begleittext: Gerhard Lütten ließ sich überraschenderweise mit der wohlhabenden Bäckerstochter sehr viel mehr Zeit. Vielleicht wollte der erfahrene und vorsichtige Schwiegervater in Anbetracht der mannigfachen politischen und wirtschaftlichen Schwierigkeiten doch erst die Entwicklung des jungen Unternehmens abwarten?
Möglicherweise haben auch die damals bereits wohlbestallten Brüder auf Schwester Traudchen eingewirkt. Bruder Heinrich, der Schokoladen-Onkel, war maßgebender Verkäufer in einer Kölner Schokoladenfabrik. Bruder Karl war Direktor einer damals bekannten Papierfabrik.
Erst am 8. März 1869 wurden die Liebenden ihrer Unruhe entledigt, wie wir aus einem Brief der «aufrichtig liebenden Traudchen» wissen. Da es sich um den einzigen Brief seiner Mutter handelt, der die Jahre überdauert hat, sind wir Herrn Max Lütten aufrichtigen Dank schuldig dafür, daß wir diesen Brief in Faksimile wiedergeben dürfen:
