Title |
sherd (exterior) |
||
Description |
English: Pottery body sherd made of gabbroic clay that weathers over the gabbro outcrop on the Lizard in Cornwall. The fabric has inclusions of pale felspars, dark augite and mica and is mid-brown on the exterior and dark brown on the interior of the sherd, with a dark brown core. This 'mucky' gabbroic fabric is seen in comparable local Grooved Ware vessels, dating from c.2900-2400 BC (Henrietta Quinnell, forthcoming). |
