Description

Ball-and-stick model of an (SiS2)∞ chain in the crystal structure of silicon sulfide, SiS2.

This image is based on the normal, ambient-pressure orthorhombic (space group Ibam) crystal structure of SiS2 first reported in 1935 and recently redetermined along with three high-pressure polymorphs in J. Evers, P. Mayer, L. Möckl, G. Oehlinger, Inorg. Chem. 2015, 54, 1240–1253, 10.1021/ic501825r.
