English: Post medieval silver bodkin fragment, proximal 'eye' end only, 16th/17th century


Fragment of a silver bodkin or dress-pin of bodkin type, blunt end only, broken across rectangular eyelet. Hexagonal-sectioned. Trefoil finial at the blunt end, circular piercing, followed by a rectangular section with engraved longitudinal lines of varying length on both sides, then a transverse groove at the junction with the incomplete rectangular eyelet which has short engraved lines along its arms on both sides. Bent slightly at the top of the rectangular eyelet.
