Title
Silver bodkin
Description
English: Silver bodkin or headdress pin, now distorted. Rectangular sectioned with bevelled edges on both sides, tapering to point. Trefoil knop at top below which is a circular piercing. Double sided engraved decoration consisting (from the top) of an upward pointing V above a pair of transverse lines, from the upper of which longitudinal lines follow the shape of the 'V'. Three pairs of tiny stamped lines or dashes before another pair of transverse lines, below which is a longitudinal slot with dashes to either side. Below the slot are a further two pairs of transverse lines with three pairs of dashes between, and an elongated downward pointing 'V' filled with longitudinal lines as at the top. On one side only is a makers mark, stamped in relief, possibly I[], the second letter is too worn to read.
