Summary[edit]
DescriptionSimple lens gear ring hack (8692118869).jpg |
I've been filming a lot with old analog lenses lately. One of my favorites is this 28mm F2.5 Vivitar M42 lens. Is the glass any good? Absolutely not, but it's flaws actually make it great for video. There was one big problem with this lens though. The grip around the lens didn't grip the lens anymore. Even a Cinematics gear ring (1) did not help. So I hacked it: A. I bought an adjustable follow focus gear ring (2) B. Tore the grip of the lens C. Chopped the gear ring to the right length D. Glued it all together with the strongest glue I had lying around (3)
