Title |
Single view of a harness pendant. |
||
Description |
English: The harness pendant is made of cast copper alloy. The pendant has the mount portion attached to the actual pendant. In total length the pendant and mount is 51.9mm and is 22.8mm wide across the widest portion of the shield. The pendant is a shield shape in plan. Protruding from the centre of the upper edge is an integral loop, which is perpendicular to the pendant. The outer face of the pendant is decorated. There is a red fess charge, above which there are three red stars in a row. The red is enamel. Below the fess charge too much damage has occured to determine the detail. The reverse of the pendant is undecorated. There is also a trace of gilding on the outer surface.These shield shaped mounts tend to be dated to the 14th century according to Griffiths. |
