Title
Single view of a harness pendant.
Description
English: The harness pendant is made of cast copper alloy. The pendant has the mount portion attached to the actual pendant. In total length the pendant and mount is 51.9mm and is 22.8mm wide across the widest portion of the shield.

The pendant is a shield shape in plan. Protruding from the centre of the upper edge is an integral loop, which is perpendicular to the pendant. The outer face of the pendant is decorated. There is a red fess charge, above which there are three red stars in a row. The red is enamel. Below the fess charge too much damage has occured to determine the detail. The reverse of the pendant is undecorated. There is also a trace of gilding on the outer surface.

The mount portion is a sub-retangular shape in plan and is triangular in section. The lower narrow edgehas two short arms extending, each with a hole at he terminal. These form the lugs through which an iron axis bar is positioned, with the pendant between the two arms. The reverse of the mount has a single integral round sectioned stud protruding from the top.

The surface of the mount and pendant is corroded.

These shield shaped mounts tend to be dated to the 14th century according to Griffiths.
