Description
English: Snow covered the northeastern United States in late February 2017. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this true-color image on February 20. The blanket of white covers the province of Quebec, Canada as well as the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Snow also dusts the northeastern corner of Pennsylvania. While snow is seasonable and expected in this region, other states south of the snow-line were experiencing warmer than normal temperatures. Baltimore, Maryland, for example, registered 71 ˚F (21.7˚C) on February 19 – 24 degrees higher than the average temperature for that date.
