Summary[edit]

Description Towering nearly 2 meters, the Red Granite Statue of Sobkemsaf I in the British Museum commands attention. This 17th Dynasty pharaoh sits regally, carved from a single block of red granite. Hieroglyphs adorn the throne, whispering of his reign from 1650-1630 BC. Once vibrant eyes, inlaid with stones, are now lost, yet the stoic expression remains. A powerful echo of Egyptian artistry and a window into a tumultuous era.
