Description

A casa Abreu Madeira traduz o gosto da época, aliando o estilo neoclássico do frontão com o neo-barroco do torreão e da Capela. Contudo, os traços característicos de grande casa rural estão bem patentes.

Relacionadas com este magnífico solar estão algumas memórias das invasões francesas. Deste modo, e em 1810, altura da terceira invasão napoleónica, os franceses espalharam o pânico, roubando e destruindo tudo à sua passagem. ao grito " Vêm aí os franceses", as pessoas fugiam levando consigo tudo o que conseguiam transportar, escondendo os objectos mais valiosos. Objectos em prata e uma colcha Indo- Portuguesa (atestando um passado de prováveis viajantes pelo Oriente) foram enterrados na quinta, escapando à sofreguidão dos franceses.

A agricultura e a pecuária, que têm sido desde sempre as actividades produtivas, mudaram com os tempos: hoje os cavalos já não vêm da Golegã pois foram substituídos pelos tractores, mas as caleches ainda existem no solar Abreu Madeira, como se fossem verdadeiras peças de um museu. O vinho do Dão e o queijo da Serra são os ex-libris deste solar do século XVIII, conservado na sua traça exterior, no seu recheio e nas suas actividades. <a href="http://www.manorhousesofportugal.com/PT/solar.php?casaid=69">www.manorhousesofportugal.com/PT/solar.php?casaid=69</a>
