https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSKvi5sB1Po Song is part of a movie "Piętro wyżej" (means "Floor above" but i saw it translated to "Neighbors") is a musical comedy, Sex appeal song is one of better known. it just saddens me to think the level of cinema on my country before the war, after that, there were 50 years of communist propaganda only, after which i don't think we fully recovered. Even after nominal fall of communism, Polish cinema was stagnant for decades, either continuing communist era way of making movies, or trying to make lesser copies of western media. Very few attempts were made to develop something of our own. Those who wanted to, hit concrete ceiling of old guard creators clinging to their past glory. I may be overthinking, i'm not a cinema expert and there were few examples showing that if we do something of our own, it's better than any imitation we try to do. Singer, main actor Eugeniusz Bodo as he's known, was one of the first cinema celebrities, entrepreneur, singer, producer. He was sent of to gulag camp, in which he succumbed as plenty others did. I didn't knew that for years. Communist propaganda claimed he was killed by Germans. Still, hearing young champagne socialists claiming gulags were just work camps and weren't that big of a deal... just makes me sad how our grandparents went through hell, our parents went through slavery, and our children will say "let's try communism again" damning another generations if they succeed. Rand mode off. |
