Description
English: Soviet Riga-class (Project 50, Gornostay) frigate SKR-74 shadowing salvage operations for downed Korean Air Lines Flight 007 (KAL 007) on 17 September 1983. The commercial jet was shot down by Soviet aircraft over Sakhalin Island in the Sea of Japan on 30 August 1983. All 269 passengers and crewmen were killed.
