Description

St Andrew's church Quidenham Norfolk. Mural monument to a member of the Holland family. w:Sir John Holland, 1st Baronet (1603-1701), MP, the son of Sir Thomas Holland of Quiddenham, Norfolk by his wife Mary Knyvet, daughter of Sir Thomas Knyvet. Arms of Holland of Upholland, Lancashire (Holland ancient): Azure semée-de-lys argent a lion rampant of the second, with canton of a baronet;

II. Monumental Tablet on the North Chancel Wall, with Three Shields. 1. Holland, with the Ulster badge. 2. Holland, with the Ulster badge. 3. Gules, two bars ermine  ; on a canton sable a fer-de-moline argent, Panton. Crest  : Holland. "Sir John Holland, who erected this monument for himself seventeen years before his death, married the Lady Alathea Sandys, and was sent Commissioner for the Parliament to K. C. the First, and received marks of Royal Favour." He died 19th of January, 1700, after he was created Baronet seventy-two years, and in the 98th year of his age.

III. Monumental Tablet on the North Chancel Wall, with Three Shields. 1. Argent, a cross raguly sable, Sandys. 2. Holland, with the Ulster badge. 3. Panton. For the Lady Alathea Sandys, daughter of John Panton, Esq., first married with William, Lord Sandys, of the Vyne in Hampshire, afterwards wife of Sir John Holland ; died in the 69th year of her age, May 22nd, 1679.
