Description
Српски / srpski: Jovan Vladimir[a] (Duklja, oko 990 — Prespa, 22. maj 1016) bio je srpski vladar Duklje, najmoćnije srpske kneževine tog doba, od oko 1000. do 1016. godine. Njegova vladavina odvijala se tokom dugotrajnog rata između Vizantije i Samuilovog carstva. Vladimir je bio poznat kao pobožan, pravedan i miroljubiv vladar. Priznat je kao svetac i mučenik, a u Srpskoj pravoslavnoj crkvi se praznuje 22. maja kao Sveti mučenik Jovan Vladimir, knez Srpski.
English: Jovan Vladimir [a] (Duklja, around 990 - Prespa, May 22, 1016) was the Serbian ruler of Duklja, the most powerful Serbian principality of that time, from around 1000 to 1016. His reign took place during the long war between Byzantium and Samuel's empire. Vladimir was known as a pious, just and peaceful ruler. He was recognized as a saint and martyr, and in the Serbian Orthodox Church he is celebrated on May 22 as the Holy Martyr Jovan Vladimir, Prince of Serbia.
