English: British regulation dress sword and scabbard, George V Part of collection associated with Captain Charles C Pye, VC blade type- straight single fuller each side; bevelled .19mm from point back edge (chased ) patterns foliage; Tudor crown and laurel wreath to one side "IN ARDUIS FIDELIS N.Z. M.C."; below six-pointed star on shoulder; brass rivet to centre; other side with Tudor crown, George V cypher; English coat of arms near hilt with maker's marks below guard- polished brass; half basket; pierced scroll and loop design; George V cypher surmounted by Tudor crown; pierced scroll quillon; knot hole near pommel hilt mounts- polished brass; cross-hatching on grip; hemispherical pommel; spherical tang button grip- fish skin bound with brass wire scabbard- steel, silver coloured metal to mouth; two ring loops to side markings- moulded to blade on shoulder- HOBSON and SONS . -1-3-5- - LEXINGTONS - LONDON - W- (maker's name etched on ricasso WILKINSONS - - - - LONDON) Note- Charles Pye VC died in 1876, long before this sword was made (bearing George the 5th monogram, whose reign only began in 1910)
