Description
Deutsch: Starnberg, OT Söcking, Prinz-Karl-Straße 5, Kath. Pfarrkirche St. Ulrich. Dieses Gotteshaus ist das bisher jüngste im Starnberger Stadtgebiet. Nachdem die alte Pfarrkirche St. Stephan für die stark wachsende Gemeinde zu klein geworden war, wurde für einen Neubau ein Architektenwettbewerb ausgeschrieben, den Professor Georg Werner (TH München) gewann. Er wählte das Bauschema einer Basilika und errichtete 1957/58 dieses Gebäude mit flachem Satteldach als Doppelchoranlage. Der Turm mit spitz zulaufendem, achteckigem Helm und das Pfarrhaus sind vorgelagert. Im Inneren der Kirche beeindruckt eine Altarwand mit Schriften aus dem Johannes Evangelium von Professor Georg Brenninger.
