Summary
[edit]DescriptionT-6 Texan aboard USS Peleliu (LHA-5) 03 for The Winds of War TV series 1981.jpeg | Actors from Paramount Studios and crewmen with a North American T-6 Texan trainer aircraft used to simulate a Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber during a scene from the TV miniseries "The Winds of War" taking place aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA-5) in December 1981. The Peleliu was being used to simulate the World War II aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CV-6) in Part VII "Into the Maelstrom" in late 1941. Several crewmen from the ship were used as "extras" in the Paramount Studios film. The T-6 is painted in the colourful pre-1941 markings and is coded "3-B-10", wearing the emblem of VB-4 "High Hatters". The scenes were mixed with real scenes from the 1941 movie "Dive Bomber" which was filmed aboard Enterprise. In this movie VB-3 aircraft also wore the VB-4 emblem. | |||
