English: Egg type compression insulator, used to electrically insulate support cables (guy wires) for utility poles and antenna masts. This design utilizes the superior strength of the ceramic material under compression, as opposed to tension, to support higher loads. Also, if the insulator breaks, the ends of the cable remain attached to each other.
Français : Isolateur à compression en forme d'œuf, utilisé pour isoler électriquement les câbles de support (haubans) des poteaux électriques et des mâts d'antenne. Cette conception utilise la résistance supérieure du matériau céramique en compression, par opposition à la tension, pour supporter des charges plus élevées. De plus, en cas de rupture de l'isolateur, les extrémités du câble restent attachées l'une à l'autre. |
