Summary[edit]

Description
English: Tapinanthus quequensis, "seed" after its release from the fruit (but not yet ingested by a bird). When the ripe fruit is squeezed by the bill of a bird the "seed", covered in a fleshy and sticky bright orange layer, pops out of the tough reddish rind. The orange "seed" is ingested by the bird, partly digested in the crop and then regurgitated and wiped of on a twig where it can germinate and establish if on a suitable host.
