Notes | In the early 18th century, a number of Staffordshire potteries experimented with ways of imitating wares to resemble fine Chinese porcelain, then being imported into the country. They were trying for a ware that was white, thin and fragile looking and had to be translucent. The latter quality could never be achieved. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
