Description

The first test tv-transmissions began 14.3.1957 at The Radio House (Fabianinkatu) of the Finnish Broadcasting Company in Helsinki. Television programmes consisted mostly of a test pattern and film programs and were broadcasted only twice a week. Yleisradio's director-general Einar Sundström and on the right M.Sc. (Tech.) Paavo Arni are testing Fernseh GmbH's Orthicon camera monitor and control devices. Photo: Pentti Pesari/Yle. Yleisradion pääjohtaja Einar Sundström (vasemmalla) esittelee ensimmäisiä tv-studioyksikön, Fernseh GmbH:n Orthikon kameratarkkailu- ja säätölaitteita Fabianinkadun Radiotalossa Helsingissä. Tekniset koelähetykset aloitettiin 14.3.1957 kahtena iltana viikossa. Lähetykset sisälsivät pääasiassa testikuvaa ja filmiohjelmia. Oikealla yli-insinööri Paavo Arni.
