English: One of four fragments of cotton, copperplate printed in red design known as American Independence, Apotheosis of Franklin, etc. the design shows Washington in a chariot drawn by leopards, standing and behind him a female figure holding a shield on which "American Independence 1776" is inscribed. Franklin is shown with a female figure carrying a liberty cap on the staff; above them a scroll: "Where Liberty Dwells There is my Country."
