Brick and limestone Beaux-Arts building with prominent modern maroon canopy and cupola-topped towers

The Main Building on Ellis Island was opened in 1900 to inspect immigrants. Millions would be processed through the building until it closed in 1954. Opened as a museum in 1990, the building houses a number of exhibits about immigration.
