Other Title: 1 Stat. 97. First Ten Amendments to U.S. Constitution

Note: This series consists of the enrolled original joint resolution of Congress, engrossed on parchment, proposing 12 amendments to the United States Constitution. The Federal Government's official copy of the resolution is signed by Frederick Augustus Muhlenberg, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and John Adams, Vice President of the United States and President of the Senate. Articles 3 to 12, ratified December 15, 1791, by three-fourths of the State Legislatures, constitute the first ten amendments of the United States Constitution. Article 2 was finally ratified on May 7, 1992, as the twenty-seventh Amendment to the Constitution. Article 1 was never ratified.
