Het jacht van stadhouder Willem III en twee oorlogsschepen op het IJ, met op de achtergrond een profiel van de stad. Willem III heeft na zijn benoeming tot stadhouder in 1672 nooit meer bezocht. De prent heeft dus vooral een allegorische betekenis. Hij lijkt bedoeld te zijn om de kortstondige goede betrekkingen tussen hem en de stad uit te beelden, kort voor zijn vertrek naar Engeland in 1688. |
