Notes Designed by Henry Noel Humphreys. iv,xii,136p., 23 plates. London: William Smith, 113, Fleet Street.1 30x200x20mm. The title page is a chromolithograph. Signed: "On stone by F. Bauer. H. Woods & Co. lith.". The coins on the plates are lithographed variously in gold, silver and copper. This work is described in the publisher's titles at the end of the "Record of the Black Prince" as: "In a rich ornamental binding of novel design...18s." Gilt edges. Light blue endpapers and pastedowns. The turn-ins and the board edges are lined in gold. Red paper over boards, with a "leaf" and horizontal rib pattern. Both covers blocked identically. On the head, the tail and the foredge, a raised pattern of strapwork, stems and leaves is blocked in gold. On the upper and lower parts of each cover, decoration in the shape of clasps is blocked, with the centre of each clasp being blocked in gold on the spine. On the spine the title: "/ English coins/" is raised and blocked in gold, in gothic lettering. Text copyright Edmund M B King and available under a CC0 license.
