Eivormige theebus met Europese personen in landschappen Objecttype: theebus Objectnummer: AK-RAK-2014-5 Omschrijving: Eivormige theebus van porselein, op een voet met opengewerkt krulwerk, beschilderd op het glazuur in blauw, rood, roze, groen, geel, aubergine, zwart en goud. Op de wand tweemaal een cartouche van bladranken met in het ene een Europeaan met een mand op zijn rug in een rivierlandschap. Het andere cartouche met een Europeaan zittend op een kleed onder een boom met een hond. Hij heeft een ruyi-scepter in zijn hand. Naast hem een bediende. Tussen de cartouches bloemranken met hierin uitgespaard tweemaal twee medaillons en een vierpas met planten in encre de Chine of roze. De deksel met dezelfde medaillons op bloemranken. Europese voorstelling in emailkleuren en encre de Chine. Vervaardiging Vervaardiger: vervaardiger: anoniem Plaats vervaardiging: China Datering: ca. 1740 - ca. 1745 School / stijl: Qing-dynastie (1644-1912) / Qianlong-periode (1736-1795) Fysieke kenmerken: porselein met emailkleuren en verguldsel Materiaal: porselein glazuur email goud Techniek: draaiend bewerken / vormen / bakken / schilderen / emailleren / vergulden / glazuren Afmetingen: h 13 cm. Toelichting The lavish decoration of this rare teapoy and cover displays an interesting combination of Chinese and Meissen-inspired styles, and is an example of the cultural interaction that took place between China and Europe during the 18th century. The border of the central cartouches, the delicate scrollwork and reserves on the body are related to the designs produced at the Meissen factory, particularly on tea and coffee services, between around 1725 and 1730. The central scene of the harbour town on the far bank of the river, possibly depicting the arrival of merchant ships from the East, is reminiscent of Meissen Hausmaler paintings, although the original design was probably copied onto porcelain.
