[edit]DescriptionThin white line = KT (now K-Pg) boundary (5090097984).jpg |
The effect of the Chicxulub impact crater on our world was like the Blues Bros tribute to throwing rubber biscuits at walls. And if your species wasn't small, non-specialized and widespread, you go extinct. Below the globe-spanning iridium-bearing clay layer is 186 million years worth of dinosaurian reign. Above the clay is 65.5 million years of mammalian, avian and insecta diversification. Former Cretaceous-Tertiary or KT has now been renamed K-Pg for Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary. Panel of the KT boundary from southern Alberta, Canada in the Royal Tyrrell Museum. This thin white line has become our planet's most compelling message of unpredictable unstoppable catastrophe.
