Description
English: George William Chapman (also known as George Williams Chapman), (1815/1816–1853). Painted as a youth of seventeen in the uniform of the U. S. Naval Academy. He married Emily, daughter of John Markoe. Head to left, size 17" X 20". Signed on back "TS Feb., 1833." Portrait painted for his father, Dr. Nathaniel Chapman. Begun Feb. 13th, 1833, and finished Feb. 19th, 1833
