Summary[edit]

Description

Tiny tick, a species of Ixodidae. Turners Flat, NSW, Australia, December 2014.

The body of the tick is about 0.4mm wide x 0.6mm long, including his nose. For size comparison, the eye of a needle. Note that this tick is recently-hatched, a first-instar larva, as one can see from its having just six legs. Later instars have eight legs.
