English: Tiraz Fragment, 10th century
Description
English: Warps consist of alternating stripes of dark blue and tan. The weft has blue threads except at the bottom which has a wide stripe made from white weft threads. Just below is a narrow stripe of alternating red and yellow silk wefts. The tapestry insert consists of connected cartouches with a design of crudely rendered animals in red, white, yellow, green, and black silk. Tapestry insert is predominantly yellow.
