The Fribourg tower in Romont guarded the Fribourg Gate, which was also called the Lussy Gate. Round and made from molasse, it featured several gun loops. The town gates hampered efforts to fight fires and therefore were demolished in 1845. Today the tower hosts an exhibition about the region's history (open from May to October).
