English: Tumulus with geometric pottery, 8th century BC. Special ancestor worship, see Athenaios (Athenaeus), Deipnosiphistae IX, 410: "Dig a pit to the west of the tomb. Then stand next to the pit, face west, pour water and say the following: the rinsing is for You, those for whom it is right and proper. Then pour myrrh." Grotta, Naxos.
