Notes Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders dress jacket Belonged to Corporal J Dunlop. Worn at time e of Indian Frontier War, 1895-1902 Note- The white metal badge (W1748) made to be worn with this uniform is in the form of two circlets of leaves intertwined with a boar's head and a rabbit . It is said to have been made from gold taken from a prince's gun, captured at the time of the Indian Mutiny. Gold from the drum was also wrought into a chain to decorate the Drum Major's staff. When this chain proved to be too long part was taken off and converted into three watch chains, one being given to Mr Dunlop's father Corporal J Dunlop. (information provided by donor). The tunic was previously (incorrectly) recorded as a Drum Major's jacket but this is probably incorrect.
