Description
English: Manaus with a population of more than 2 million lies in the middle of the Amazon rainforest and is only accessible by boat and airplane. In the late 19th century it was the center of the Amazons rubber boom. But when the seeds of the rubber tree got smuggled to Asia, the area lost it‘s trading monopoly. e city fell into poverty. Despite it‘s history and isolated location, todays Manaus is the cultural hub of the Amazon region with a great cultural offer.
