Description

Various rock layers of different colors were twisted and folded by the uprising of the Rocky Mountains.

When the Rocky Mountains rose approximately 50-60 million years ago, it both folded and twisted these rock layers. With weathering, they became what you see today. This is an end of summer picture, taken late in the day, not too far from the Quarry Exhibit hall.
