English: 050203-N-8796S-093 Aboard USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) (Jan 31, 2005)-- Lieutenant General Robert R. Blackman, Commander, Combined Support Force-536 (CSF-536) speaks with media during a press conference after an official visit to the USNS Mercy. USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) is currently operating off the coast of Indonesia to provide assistance to medical teams ashore in tsunami-affected areas. While in Southeast Asia, Mercy will be engaged as a support ship, assisting medical operations ashore in support of host nation-identified humanitarian priorities. The USNS Mercy will be the ongoing U.S. support platform to the international humanitarian efforts for those affected. USNS Mercy is deployed in support of Operation Unified Assistance, the multi-national humanitarian aid effort in the wake of the Southeast Asia Tsunami.
