English: Blue 4, the fourth M1A1 Abrams tank in 3rd Platoon, Company A, 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, barely recoils as it fires its main gun at a target several hundred meters away during the company’s Gunnery Qualifications April 24. The qualifications are a biannual, Marine Corps-wide event for the 1st and 2nd Tank Battalions. The event tests the capabilities of individual tank crews as they run a course for time, proficiency and accuracy. The crew that performs the best is formally recognized by its command and the team members are awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. |
