English: The U.S. Navy light aircraft carrier USS Cowpens (CVL-25) underway in the Atlantic Ocean at 1235 hrs on 17 July 1943, course 90°, circa 40 km off the coast of Virginia (USA). The photo was taken by a blimp from Naval Air Station Weeksville, North Carolina (USA), from an altitude of 50 meters.
