NORFOLK (Dec. 20, 2012) The amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) returns to Naval Station Norfolk after a nine-month deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility. The homecoming marks the end of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group's (IWOARG) deployment, where its ships supported Operation Enduring Freedom, Exercises African Lion, Eager Lion and International Mine Countermeasure Exercise 2012, and conducted Maritime Security Operations (MSO) and theater security cooperation efforts in the Mediterranean and Arabian Seas.
