PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 10, 2012) Sailors stand by aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85) as the ship approaches the Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Tippecanoe (T-AO-199) while it conducts a replenishment at sea with the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Cowpens (CG 63) in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility. McCampbell and Cowpens are part of the George Washington Carrier Strike Group, the U.S. Navy’s only continuously forward-deployed carrier strike group, based out of Yokosuka, Japan, and is conducting a routine western Pacific patrol in support of regional security and stability of the vital Asia-Pacific region. The U.S. Navy is constantly deployed to preserve peace, protect commerce, and deter aggression through forward presence. Join the conversation on social media using #warfighting.
