Description
English: The U.S. Navy heavy cruiser USS Salem (CA-139) moored in the Canal della Guidecca, during a visit to Venice, Italy, on 23 August 1951. Salem was then flagship of the U.S. Sixth Fleet. Note the decorated awning rigged forward, probably for entertaining visiting dignitaries.
