English: Aboard USS Bataan (LHD 5) Feb. 24, 2003 - An AV-8B Harrier jump jet assigned to the “Tigers” of Marine Attack Squadron Five Four Two (VMA-542) prepares to takes off from the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5). The Harrier is carrying the newer AN/AAQ-28 Litening targeting pod on its starboard wing pylon. The pod is an advanced airborne targeting and navigation pod that is designed to improve both day and night attack capabilities and improve low level night flights.
